Greetings,
This past Friday I took some time off work to run some errands and get some stuff done prior to an event we had over the weekend. After doing so we received requests for two services on Friday. Since I don’t get the opportunity to do missions during the week very often I knew I had to attend both.
When I first joined the PGR and up until a couple of years ago I worked nights right in Boscawen which allowed me to attend many missions. For those that work a regular job you know this has an impact on your availability, especially those requests at the NH State Veterans Cemetery.
In doing those two missions Friday though I was quickly reminded that there are a group of dedicated individuals that will no matter what the weather conditions ensure that our Veterans are honored. On a day that started off with some rain and overall crummy weather and turned quickly to very sunny and very hot the NH PGR not only successfully escorted two processions from two different parts of the state but a small group of individuals remained out in the elements at the NHSVC to ensure that each ceremony was well represented. We were also fortunate enough to have a PGR member from Nevada join us for one of the escorts and flag lines as he traveled the country doing a mission in each state. Every member in attendance made it a point to thank him and make him feel welcome.
This brings me to the title of this email … I am proud to stand beside each one of you and thankful for each and every one of you that comes out day after day to Honor those that have served and continue to honor them. You keep the PGR alive through your actions and you continue to provide a service the families will never forget.
To those that have not had the opportunity to attend a flag line or maybe haven’t done one in a while, I would encourage you, consider taking a day off or even slipping away from work for few hours and joining those small dedicated few that do it on a regular basis. It means the world to the families when we attend and it is always an Honor and a Privilege to be invited.
Thank you all for your support and service to our Veterans and First Responders!
Respectfully,
Nick Marks
