Vietnam Moving Wall / UNH – 04 May 2017

You do not have to be a Veteran or a member of the PGR to attend missions. All individuals are welcome. We encourage all who wish to attend and participate to do so. Unless otherwise stated all of our missions are open to anyone whether they ride or not. If this will be your first mission please go to the staging location as indicated and you will be briefed by the FLC (Flag Line Captain) or RC (Ride Captain). Please remember to dress for the weather and the event in which you will be attending. Dress comfortably but respectfully.

Vietnam Moving Wall / UNH – 04 May 2017

The PGR has been invited by the University of New Hampshire Division of Military and Veterans Services to coordinate an escort for the Vietnam War Memorial Moving Wall. We have also been invited to stage a “Ride-In” for the opening ceremony.

The Moving Wall, a half-sized replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. will be at the University of New Hampshire on May 4th – 8th as part of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the war. We are inviting all Veterans Motorcycle groups to join us in this escort and ride-in to Honor our Vietnam Veterans.

The mission will be in four (4) parts as follows:

Mission Date: Thursday, 04 May 2017

Part 1 – Limited EscortPlease note that this segment of the mission is filled.
For safety reasons we will have a limited escort of the Wall from Portsmouth to the truck inspection station 1/4 mile east of the Route 155 exit on Route 4 West. The limited escort will be made up of Vietnam era Veterans (combat veterans if possible) from each of the Veterans motorcycle groups participating.

If you did not receive an invite or previously talked to Ron Watson about joining the limited escort you are asked to proceed directly to the main escort staging location.

Part 2 – Main Escort: Route 4 Truck Inspection Lot, 1/4 mile east of the Route 155 exit

At the request of UNH Campus Police all MC Groups participating in or coming onto campus for the opening ceremony are requested to join the ride-in group from the Truck inspection lot in order to minimize the overall impact to traffic on the campus. Special parking has been set aside for all MC’s participating in the ride-in.

A State Police escort has been confirmed from Portsmouth throughout the complete wall escort, we will also have Durham Police and UNH Campus Police assistance within Durham and UNH.

Please be advised that UNH does not allow firearms on their campus!

It is with Great Pride that I sit here writing this comment. Yesterday the NHPGR along with riders from many other Veterans riding groups did them selves proud The 4 part Mission for UNH’s Moving Wall went off flawlessly. The Limited Escort Ride Captained by Jim and Ted was a moving tribute to our Vietnam Era Veterans, there was a great group of 18 riders ( including 2 State Police and 2 Portsmouth Police).
